We’ve done the cooking class; you should also cook and taste the Kilimanjaro’s flavours!
The tour step by step:
Direct arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (time and flight to be confirmed). Meet the driver and transfer to Moshi for check in at your hotel, driving time – aprox 1 hour.
After check-in you may have a coffee or something light, as you’ll have a snack in Moshi Market, as we go shopping. In order to cook we need to shop for the ingredients, right?
The colorful market and the noisy traffic in Moshi are fascinating. Shoes, shirts, and bags are on exhibit by Flying Handlers. Banana trees are worn on the heads of women. The Massai made sandals out of used tires. People sell their services while they sit nearby on the sidewalk.
The market place is where the most intriguing activities occurs. The freshly washed carrots, green peppers, and red tomatoes are heaped up with care. Mango, avocado, and watermelon are all chopped up for sampling. Every little nook and cranny is used for selling, and if the price is too high, you can definitely bargain with the neighbor for a lower price. Always smile and don’t take bargaining too seriously.
The aroma of an African kitchen beckons not far away. Whether it’s a chapati, cooked bananas, or vegetables, freshly cooked local cuisine is available here.
Today we go cooking with The Chagga Tribe in Uru area. To reach the location we need to ride the bajaji (local name for the tuk-tuk) for about 1 hour to Uru area.
The day trip ends with the transfer to the hotel.
We thank the driver/guide who made our trip so good to remember!
We appreciate his work with a nice tip.
We say: ASANTE SANA!
(Thank you very much!)
He replies: KARIBU! (Welcome!)
Overnight at Chanya Lodge 4* in Moshi.
This is a hidden beauty, a green oasis in the noisy town. From the check-in moment you change scenery, you feel no longer in the city.
We take dinner in the hotel restaurant, by the pool, next to it’s beautiful garden.
Dinner time is so relaxing, with a delicious soup, then a ginger tea, just to chill and enjoy the sounds of nature on the background.
This green garden reminded me of Bali, another wonder.
The room is big and the bed comfortable. we have drinking water complimentary, also in the bathroom, for the personal oral hygiene. The wifi was good and the staff very friendly.
Next day, after breakfast, we start the safari. That is another story to live and write about.
